Fix Your Laptop Keyboard Problem in Just 3 Ways

Have you ever experienced a keyboard Problem on a laptop that can’t function with some letters or even doesn’t work at all? It might be very annoying, right? You don’t need to panic and immediately take it to service because you can easily repair a laptop keyboard yourself.

Keyboard Problems may occur in several ways, but I am here discussing only three issues and also going to fix them.

  • Laptop Key Pressing 
  • Wrong Character Issues
  • Disable Laptop Keyboard

#1 Steps to Fix Keyboard Typing Wrong Character

If you're facing the wrong character typing issue, while you are typing any key. This type of problem may occur after installing an Operating System by yourself.

Actually, our keyboard is based in English(US) but if you select English(UK) then we face these problems.



Now I am going to fix this, just follow the below steps:

1. Go to Control Panel on your Windows PC. Then go to Change your Language Preferences.


2. Click on Add Languages. 

Here you see the keyboard you have selected is English(UK). So I have to change it.

3. Click English.



4. Add English(US) or English(India).


5. Now set English(US) or English(India) to Primary. So click on English India and click on Move Up .


6. Remove English(UK).


If you're a Windows 8 or 10 user then you can solve it directly from Settings> Time and Language >Region and Language .


From Here you can Add a Language and Set it as Primary.




#2 Steps to Fix Laptop Keyboard Key Pressing Problem

The Key pressing problem is a problem that requires complete changes on your keyboard. The keyboard can never be fixed. The only thing you can do is you can change the entire keyboard.


Follow my steps that help you to fix the Keypressing problem without changing it.

1. Download the zip file and extract it.

2. First, we are going to install Keytest to Test the faulty Keyboard. So Click on the key test and install it.



The Green Sign indicates, there is no issue with the Keyboard. Red indicates a faulty keyboard.

3. To disable the faulty Keyword, you need to install the KeyTweak tool. 

4. Select the Faulty key and then click Disable. Click Apply and it has done.

5. You can also Remap the key. So Choose New Remapping and click Remap Key .

6. If you want to restore them as they are, click on Restore Default.



#3 Disable the Primary Keyboard of a Laptop without Disassemble

If you want to disable the keyboard completely then follow my steps:



1. Go to Control Panel > System.

2. Click on Device Manager and Click on Keyboards > Standard PS/2 Keyboard .

3. Now click on Update Driver.

4. Click on Locate and install driver software manually.

5. Click on Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.

6. Check the box, Show compatible hardware, and click on Manufacturer apart from your PC.
For example, if you are using an HP laptop, then click other manufacturers Click next, and click yes.


Windows has successfully updated your drivers. If you want to enable the keyboard again then just have to reverse them again.
